The Grant
Process
The mission of the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is to eradicate
breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by
advancing research, education, screening and
treatment. Our local affiliate strives to
accomplish the goals of this mission by granting
funds to other non-profit community agencies,
governmental agencies, and educational institutions
within our defined service area to carry out breast
cancer education, screening, and outreach
programs.
The grant process beings in
the fall of each year with a Grant Writing Workshop
hosted by the local affiliate to help organizations
understand the applications process. Completed
Grant Applications are then accepted and reviewed
by a panel of volunteers. The local Board of
Directors then votes on the Recommended Funding
Levels at the December Board Meeting and Grant
Checks are awarded at the Affiliates Annual meeting
in April.
